Insanity redux

Well,

I guess it was inevitable that I would do this - after all I have never been one to be backwards when it comes to self promotion :). I am the husband of EmmieNatty - insanity is that we will soon need to change that name (number 3 lacks a name at the moment - but mohammad and krishna seem to be unlikely choices).

Hmm had some lovely folks over yesterday, elders of the Church of Latter Day Saints. Nice guys, helpful, considerate and generous of spirit with a real faith and conviction in what they believe. And yet you could just see that they lacked a full knowledge in what they believe to be true. When I started talking about the bits of the New Testament that disagree with their theology, they just did not know about it. I reckon (nice english there) that that's the problem with most people's faith its not that they believe things that sometimes cannot be proven scientifically, it's that they believe things that are not supported by their own texts. We all want things to mean what we already believe, and yet they usually don't.

I have to admit absolute certaintity scares me, probably more than anything, I hold my own faith to be true but I am always willing to look at others and investigate. Yet a good mate of mine informed me that he did not need to understand other faiths - because they were wrong. I agree with him (after all I am evangelical) but I still think you need to understand others and be more cautious than that.

Anyway off to the all family service at church - a large green puppet will instill the message of jesus in my children, bizarre but hey it works so who am I to complain.
